Rose quartz is associated with compassion and unconditional love and enhances love of all kinds, including kindness for yourself, loved ones, and all living things.  The crystal features prominently in both Greco-Roman and Native American mythology as a multi-faceted symbol of love.  It was used by Native Americans to soothe feelings of anger and disappointment.  While from Greek mythology we get the more romanic connotations: the blood of both Aphrodite and Adonis soaked into a clear quartz crystal giving rose quartz its light red color.  In other myths it is a gift to humans from Eros and Cupid, the gods of love and of desire.

Rose Quartz is said to use the energy of unconditional love to bring your consciousness to a higher level, aiding forgiveness by nurturing understanding situations from more positive perspectives.  I’ve had lovely effects from sleeping with a rose quartz under my pillow.
